Mango's Patrons are a select group of individuals who provide regular core funding for Mango’s work. They share a passion for helping strengthen NGOs and are keen to help us make our services more accessible to the NGOs that need them most. For example, Patrons have provided funding to enable us to provide training bursaries to NGOs from developing countries who could not otherwise afford our fees. The example below shows what an impact this can have on an NGO's management and sustainability.
"The relations with [our donor] were difficult sometimes in terms of financial management. [They] started to phase out, and the only option was to get trained. Consequently we have applied for a bursary to Mango, and we very luckily succeeded. I can say it really was a kind of miracle when it comes, how it was helpful!" "Following the training in Addis Ababa with Mango, we have improved a lot of things, but a few examples are as follows: We regularly follow-up the income and expenditure of the project and we became able to avoid under-spending and over-spending. We have started to write financial reports to [our donors]. We have started to take steps toward financial sustainability, by building up reserves, ... implementing our cost sharing system, ... aproaching the government to get financial support." "God bless Mango and its team for ever!" We have also used support from Mango's Patrons to develop publications and make them freely available across six continents, and to offer other free or subsidised services. We hope to develop these initiatives further. We do not necessarily seek a great time commitment from our Patrons. But we are delighted to provide opportunities for Patrons to get more involved in Mango’s work if they wish to – for instance, attending training or networking events, and meeting our staff. We are pleased to discuss the scheme on an individual basis, as well as publicly recognition of Patrons, unless they prefer us not to. Please contact Denise Joseph for more details of our Patrons scheme. |
